I just finished reading Fierce Conversations by Susan Scott and the phrase that has been repeatedly popping into my mind as I go about my day is.
“Master the courage to Interrogate Reality.”
What I have noticed is that most of us are going about our lives in a bit of a cloud. It’s made up of what we are taking in on social media, in the news, and from the people we spend time with.
Sometimes this cloud is made up of positive ideas and people which is fantastic and feels great. Sometimes this cloud is made up of negative ideas and crabby people which can leave us feeling out of sorts. Each one of us is responsible for curating the cloud that surrounds us.
AND
It’s not reality.
We spend so much time curating what we take in that we forget to look at the reality in our lives.
How many times have you started out on a plan to grow your revenue full of all the positive self talk available?
1) You are only going to talk to people who are perfectly positioned for your offer.
2) You are only going to reach out to people who you are certain can afford you.
All of these concepts are great and not wrong. However, I notice people hanging on to these ideas as their revenue steadily drops and they aren’t willing to look outside of their cloud of positivity to look at what is really going on.
You are not making enough money to grow your business and you are not thriving. Look at the facts of the situation.
Take a step outside of it and look at the measurable facts.
Because of my beliefs I haven’t had conversations with enough people to generate enough cash flow to pay my team, pay myself adequately, or invest in the next step of my business.
That is a very measurable fact.
Once you have adequately interrogated reality you can then begin to take steps to change the situation.
It is so important to take a look at what is really going on and not hang your hat on the positive or negative clouds we create for ourselves.
If you are having a hard time doing this for yourself, which is very real, get help. Ask a trusted friend or schedule a call with us. We are always here to help you interrogate reality. We want you to reach every single one of your goals and enjoy the ride as you do it!
